If he is gone for the year the Angels rotation just got weaker and the Mariners chances just got even better. Lackey will miss April leaving Weaver and Garland to carry the staff. Escobar won 18 games last year. OUCH!!! Hopefully for the Angels sake he doesn't need surgery.Kelvim Escobar revealed Wednesday that he has a tear in his right shoulder that could require season-ending surgery.
Escobar ceased throwing after experiencing discomfort in his shoulder Sunday. "I'm concerned, I don't know what's going to happen, I don't even know if I'll be able to pitch again," Escobar said. "I'm still young. I'll be 32 in two weeks, but retirement is getting into my head, because it's hard to rehab. I want to be out there playing, and I've done everything I can do to be healthy." According to the Los Angeles Times, Escobar plans to see if two weeks off improve his shoulder before likely seeing a specialist to determine whether surgery is necessary.
