    Tracy is out

It was time for Tracy and the Dodgers to part ways. Dodgers have a lot of issues this offseason and just added to it.

His problem with playing Hee Choi was enough of a reason.

Tracy as a manager wasn't too beloved by us because his laid back personality contrasted with Lasorda's fiery style. The "fans" who call in to Dodger Talk after the game either thought he did a great job or that he was the worse strategic manager in the game. To his credit he has had the team in the division race each season despite injuries to key players. With Tracy in his final year of his contractand the team finishing 20 games under .500, a move by DePodesta was expected. Tracy could go for the job in Florida and if Lo Duca re-signs in Florida or maybe serve under Felipe Alou again.

It will be interesting to see who DePodesta hires to be his manager. He may be interested in someone who favors stats like Joe Maddon of the Angels as opposed to old school managers such as Leyland or Piniella. If Lasorda has his way, we may be looking at Bobby Valentine, Orel Hershiser, or Dusty Baker, whom I wouldn't mind as a manager unlike Cubs fans. If Colborn stays in L.A., there's no way he'd let Dusty "ruin" his pitchers.

Spoken like a true fan of the game. Go join Byman5 from the NFL forums under the bridge and try not to scare the crap out of Hansel and Gretel.

Go ***** to the mods, then. It still doesn't change that Jim Tracy refused to play the obvious choice at first base, one of the few healthy options he had all year. The manager's most important duty is the proper apportionment of playing time, one which Jim Tracy has failed.

DePodesta should be the one getting canned. Did Tracy give Adrian Beltre's money to D.L. Drew? Did Tracy sign Jeff Kent and expect him to get along with Milton Bradley.

No one can get along with Bradley, except his homies.

Tracy chose to leave. It's not DePodesta's fault. Besides Choi sucks. Who would want to play him more than 50 games a year?

Depodesta didn't have much of a choice. Besides, Drew > Beltre. Look at what Beltre did this year.

At least he stayed healthy. I'd bet a beer on the fact that Beltre's production wouldn't have dipped a much if he stayed in LA, but thats just speculation.

Im sure its one of those "Have your resignation on my desk in the morning or you'll be fired" situations.

At least they didn't have to pay Drew a lot. The insurance company paid for most of his deal since he spent most of the season on the DL.

They said ti was mutual and I believe it. Why would Tracy want to stay there with all the terrible moves that they made? That team is going nowhere and Tracy knew it. There will be some job openings this winter.

Funny thing, Drew was prolly twice as productive as Beltre in half the plate appearences. Between those two options, Drew was still better than a 3B who was the second worst full-time (500+ PA) 3b in the AL.

Still, Depodesta acquired their best hitter, their second best hitter, and their third best hitter (I think he got Bradley). I also believe he got Choi, Saenz, and his pitchers weren't that bad. Not a superior job by any means, but not the worst GMing job in the league...
