    Deivi Cruz dealt to Washington

Nationals acquired infielder Deivi Cruz from the Giants for RHP Ben Cox.
Cruz would be a downgrade defensively, but he's probably a better option at shortstop than the struggling Cristian Guzman. The Nationals might as well try playing him regularly for a little while. All they gave up to get him was a weaker relief prospect than the one (Danny Reuckel) they sent through waivers this week. Cox, 23, had a 3.00 ERA in 42 appearances for Single-A Savannah.

Not a bad move for insurance. I'd rather see Zimmerman get a chance to play shortstop in the majors though. *sigh*

Pretty much a useless deal, though.

That doesn't mean he's struggling. It means he shouldn't be in the majors. But don't worry, only 3 more years to go on his contract.

Deivi has been great for us the past two seasons and wish him the best. Good to see the Giants stacking up on young arms for a change. Wait we always do that.
