No thanks. Supposedly the Sox have talked 5 teams regarding Ramirez and this rumor is the least likely of the 5.

How much do you trust Boston talk radio?

I think I'm reading the same thing Saber is.

Friday, July 29, 7:25 p.m. ET: Boston talk radio...OK, should I stop right there? No, I like those guys so I'll let everyone know that they're talking about one of the most complex deals I've heard. Not only would Manny Ramirez move, but the Devil Rays are (again) involved. Specifics are tough to come by with these kinds of rumors, but the buzz is that Ramirez ends up in Queens, the Sox get Mike Cameron and Aubrey Huff, and the Devil Rays end up with the collective minor league systems of both clubs. Suffice it to say that the Powerball ticket I have in my pocket is more likely to happen, but you can't win if you don't play.

Boston sports radio is about as trustworthy as...hmm...let's say the Runaway Bride. She may tell you the truth on the small things, but when you see that mysterior 6k charge on your credit card and she's sporting some nice bling, the odds of getting the real story are nil.

Tampa Bay would get Milledge in that deal.

That would be just like the Mets though, wouldn't it?

A source said the Red Sox felt they could not go ahead with trading Ramirez and two prime prospects -- reportedly catcher Kelly Shoppach and right-hander Anibal Sanchez -- if all they were receiving was New York's Cameron and Tampa Bay's Huff. So they went back to the Mets "for more pieces," the source reported. At that point, the Mets "squashed the whole thing" and talks broke off.

Well, this proposed trade got a bit more complicated...

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2120374

The proposal took on a different look late Friday into Saturday, however.

The Red Sox would acquire Mets outfielder Mike Cameron and pitcher Aaron Heilman, and Devil Rays outfielder/designated hitter Aubrey Huff; the Mets would get Ramirez, reliever Danys Baez and shortstop Julio Lugo; and the Devil Rays would still get four prospects, but the prospects are being reconsidered.

An official with one of the three teams told ESPN.com that the Mets never walked away from the deal Friday night over money. Rather, it was over their reluctance to let go of Lastings Milledge, one of their top prospects. Saturday, however, the Mets have softened on that stance.

If Milledge is still included in the current proposal, Red Sox prospect Hanley Ramirez gets thrown into the mix. Milledge would potentially go to the Red Sox, and Ramirez would get shipped to Tampa Bay.

I don't think this is that real, since Theo has been a hardline "no" on trading Hanley for a while now, but interesting...

I don't think Hanley is "untouchable" considering in the offseason your beloved sox were trying to get Zito for Ramirez and someone else. It just goes to show how stupid the Boston papers are (this was the globe IIRC)...because the A's have a SS...he was rookie of the year last year and was a 1st round pick, some guy named Bobby Crosby

Yeah, um, don't listen to the Boston media. Ever.

Just looking at Will Carroll's (BP) Rumor Mill, supposedly the only flat out no's team received out of all the players on the Sox was Hanley and Dustin Pedroia.

If Hanley did go to the A's, he would be moved or Crosby would be moved. I know Hanley has the athletecism to play pretty much any position that isn't catcher. He'll move if/when he makes the Sox since Renteria is stuck in the SS position.

Actually, the more I think about it was MLB.com Sox writer Ian Browne...what a goober. Yes, Hanley could move, but this clown wasn't suggesting that. He didn't even acknowledge that Crosby existed. He was just saying this guy could play SS for them.
