    Rumor: Pierre to Cubs?

    From ESPN Insider 7/18

    Jul 18 - The Marlins are considering selling Juan Pierre, who would be a dream leadoff hitter for the Cubs, the Chicago Tribune reports. The Cubs dump might choose to drop prospects for the center fielder.

    Could be a nice move for the Cubs which could also make Corey Patterson expendable.

    Pierre doesn't draw walks, which is what the Cubs sorely lack. Why make the move now?

    But Pierre gets on base. Well, he's not having that great of year, but his overall OBP is better than Corey Patterson, which will help the Cubs to score more runs. I would love to have this trade come through, though, I will be sad to see Patterson gets traded.
