    Reds Reds like Ubaldo

The Reds have Ubaldo Jimenez "on their radar," according to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com.
Cincinnati is at an interesting crossroads. They are in fourth place in the NL Central but only stand four games out of first place. With potential free agents like closer Francisco Cordero and catcher Ramon Hernandez, the Reds could be buyers or sellers at the deadline depending on how they play immediately after the All-Star break. The Rockies aren't yet shopping Jimenez and would probably need to be blown away to consider an offer. After a rough start, he has a 2.52 ERA in his last eight starts (4-8 with a 4.14 ERA and 1.30 WHIP overall). Jimenez is signed for $2.8 million this season and $4.2 million next year with club options of $5.75 million and $8 million in 2013 and '14.
The Reds definitely have pieces to give up to get a guy like Ubaldo and would definitely make them a serious contender right away and help years from now as his options are very team friendly. The Rockies are on the border between seller and buyer so this will be interesting to watch if the Reds and Rockies can get a deal done.

The club options fall off if he's traded. He'd be a red through 2013. Umbalto 1 cueto 2.... Nasty!

I however would be fearful to give up a lot. I would rather not give up mezaraco. Obviously Alanzo would have to be in the deal, but I wish they'd give him a shot in left first...

Ubaldo is the type of player that the Reds HAVE to get NOW.

The Reds have prospects galore the problem is none of them really profile as world beaters. I would in a heartbeat give up something like (insert starting pitcher not named Cueto), Alonso, Frazier/Hamilton/etc, Stubbs/Heisey/Sappelt, and another low level spect for 2.5 years of Ubaldo if he passes the medical side.

    Re: Reds like Ubaldo

According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, the Rockies are "not shopping" Ubaldo Jimenez.
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported the other day that the Reds have Jimenez squarely "on their radar" with the July 31 trade deadline approaching, but it doesn't sound like the ace right-hander will be going anywhere. Jimenez is under contract through 2014 and is owed a total of $17.95 million over the next three seasons. That's a bargain rate for Colorado, and Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd has not been ordered to dump salary this summer.
    Bummer for Reds fans!

Looking like he won't be moved. Which is understanable.

    Re: Reds like Ubaldo

CBS' Danny Knobler reports that the Red Sox have now asked about Rockies ace Ubaldo Jimenez.
The Rockies aren't committed to trading Ubaldo and have asked for a large return of prospects from the teams that have inquired. But that isn't going to stop clubs from trying. The Reds, Rangers and Tigers have also expressed heavy interest.
Still don't think he will be moved but more smoke keeps pouring in. Nothing wrong with the Rockies fielding calls though.

    Re: Reds like Ubaldo

The Rockies are saying they haven't received an official offer for Ubaldo who pitched a beauty last night giving up just two runs over 6.2 IP while striking out nine last night.
