    RUMOR: Rejected trade proposal - Griffey to Braves

    This is a rumor that was circulating around Cincinnati today. Apparently the deal was the following:

    Reds:
    Griffey, Jr.

    Braves:
    Davies
    2 Minor League pitching prospects.

    The deal was apparently rejected by the Braves, which did not want to give up the prospects. The Braves were going to assume most if not all of Griffey's remaining contract. This rumor was confirmed by Griffey's agent, Brian Goldberg.

    seems to me that the braves would be getting the short end there if they're paying most of his contract and giving up 3 pitchers

    Heh, I wouldn't do Griffey for Davies straight up, let alone that. I'm assuming the specs were James and Lerew.

    Langerhans and Johnson are playing tremendous. This move makes no sense for Atlanta. However, it was confirmed on The Sporting News that Atlanta and Houston have been talking about Brad Lidge.

    Griffey does not want to play any of the corner outfield spots and I am sure a guy of this stature has a no trade clause.
