    Rockies Rockies get Jose Contreras

    Giants got Brad Penny, Rockies got Jose Contreras. These are the guys who will decide the NL Wild Card race.

    According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Rockies have acquired veteran right-hander Jose Contreras for RHP Brandon Hynick and cash.

    If this was 2003, Brad Penny and Jose Conteras on the move would have been huge news.

    Contereas had a 7.66 ERA in 24.2 August innings. Conteras has been everything this season: Great (June), OK (July) and terrible (August.) I am guessing the Rockies do not see this as a trend but as the end to a poor stretch? Whatever.

    They'll only use him till Cook returns. Unfortunately, he'll get 3-4 starts. Good news for Atlanta and Florida that the giants and rockies have no clue what a 4th or 5th starter is.
