    Mariners Jack Wilson To Seattle?

Mariners officials have discussed with the Pirates a possible trade for shortstop Jack Wilson. It cited Mariners shortstop Yusniesky Betancourt as Seattle's potential chip in such a deal: He's a 27-year-old, Cuban right-hander who averages .281 for his career with similar production to Wilson. Betancourt is owed $2 million this season, $3 million next year, $4 million in 2011 with a $6 million club option or a $2 million buyout in '12.
This would definitely help the M's get stronger up the middle. I just don't know if the Pirates would want Betancourt for that long but it could possibly work out for both teams. Pirates would finally be getting rid of Jack Wilson after mahy, many rumors.

It would be a good deal if they can pull it off. Betacourt can hit for contact but his horrible defensively (just see last weeks easy throw away). We need better defense at 2B and SS if this team is going to get any better. Lopez has a good bat, but hes a 1B playing 2B.

Betancourt has posted worse and worse UZR/150 stats each year, becoming quite the butcher in the field.

He is a butcher, his mechanics are really poor to the point my daughter could play better at SS right now. Also given the fact he swings at everything (litterally, due to the 5 walks and 11 Ks in 128 at bats this season and he's only walked 65 times in 1998 ABs says something to that)

Truthfully, I've been one that's wanted to trade Jack for a long long while, but if we get a poor defensive player back for him after paying Jack 6+ million to play good defense at short, I'll be unhappy.

Just get a prospect for him, I don't even care if it pans out.

I would happily take Wilson over YuBetForAnError.
