Soapbox Is John Henry really talking about a Salary Cap?

Boston Red Sox owner John Henry renews salary cap call - ESPN

No offense John, we were better this year with deals, however, you have no place to talk about a salary cap, now if its a high one near where u are at now then maybe... but let the small owners beat the drum for a salary cap.

I would support a cap of 155 mil, big enough to support spending but prevent the Yankee spending spree. But I know teams would want one at 100 mil so I don't really want any changes.

Of course you are all for anything that hurts nobody but the Yankees. Let's set the bar right above our 2nd highest payroll so that just the Yankees are affected. Typical Sox fan...

How would $100 million dollars be too low? I mean obviously that wouldn't be supportive of a team like the Red Sox and their ability to retain and trade for star players, but do you honestly believe that teams couldn't compete with a payroll like that over a sustained time?

Regarding the article though, if Henry is calling for a salary cap I imagine 28 other teams are raising their hands in support as well.

Actually some teams don't see a problem with it. Only a few have been for a salary cap.

It was a just joke..... since Boston has a payroll double/triple more than a lot of teams in baseball. If THEY could support, then all other teams must.
