    Dodgers Hoffman Gets Offer?

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Dodgers have offered Trevor Hoffman a one-year contract.
The offer "exceeds $4 million," according to the report. You can be sure the Brewers will attempt to beat or match the deal, but some in the baseball industry believe Hoffman would prefer to remain on the West Coast. The Southern California native has a wife and three young children.
The Dodgers need a stop gap closer and staying in the NL West is what Hoffman wants. It would be a nice slap in the face to the Padres who pissed Hoffman off by not sitting down with him this offseason. I can definitely see this happening.

    Re: Hoffman Gets Offer?

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Brewers and Dodgers have both made one-year offers with an option for 2010 to Trevor Hoffman.
Both deals are believed to carry a salary of more than $4 million for the first year. The Journal-Sentinel think the Brewers will have to outbid the Dodgers in order to pull him away from the West Coast. MLB.com reported earlier that Milwaukee is "making the stronger move."
Looks like we could have a bidding war over the future HOFer and last remaining closer on the market. Sorry Brandon Lyon, I'm not counting you as a closer. Dodgers shouldhave the edge being so close to his home.

I would agree with that. Trevor Hoffman has said he wants to stay on the West Coast. Unless the Dodgers are unable to come close to the Brewers' offer, they should be able to get his services as their closer next season.

His fastball and changeup now resemble pretty much the same pitches and batters will continue to feast off that. We already have a closer with a problem with pitch selection.
