    Dodgers Maddux Back To L.A.?

The Dodgers are talking to the Padres about a deal for Greg Maddux, ESPN's Buster Olney reports.
With Maddux refusing to leave the West Coast, the Dodgers are the only team that makes sense for him. However, previous reports indicated that they weren't interested, perhaps due to a lack of cash. Maybe they've scraped up the money now. The Padres probably won't require much in return.
Why wouldn't the DBacks want him? They have a hole now in their fifth slot and Maddux would join a great rotation. Dodgers could use him but offense should be their main priority which is why they are looking at Manny.

    What about the Angels?

    Didn't Weaver get hurt?

(Of course, I don't know how bad that was. I just know he left a game early.)

I don't understand why the Yanks would want Washburn and not Maddux. I think they could really help the Bombers

The Yankees could want Maddux all they like, Maddux has a no trade clause and doesn't want to leave the west coast.

We probably don't need him, but it may be worth a couple of middle-tier prospects whom DePo may like just to cockblock the Diamondbacks.

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal says the Dodgers have put the Greg Maddux talks on hold while they work on other deals.
Either they simply know Maddux will be there for them at the deadline if nothing else works out or they don't have the money to take on the more than $3 million that Maddux is still owed. The Padres probably won't be willing to pick that up unless it lands them a top prospect. They're primarily interested in shedding the salary.
I think the Dodgers know he won;t go anywhere but this is a good window for the Backs to snag him.

You sound like a closet Dbacks fan. If I'm a fellow Giants fan, I would smack you on the head.

Like the Giants have a stake in the outcome. I would like to see a NL West winner with a record above .500. Whichever team that is I don';t care.

gotcha. don't know why he wouldn't want to go to a contender, but i guess at this point in his career his family's more important
