    MLB Bye Bye Manny?

GM Theo Epstein told FOX broadcaster Tim McCarver before Saturday's game that the Red Sox will make an effort to deal Manny Ramirez if he waives his no-trade clause.
Does Manny really want out of Boston, where he's on a very good team with fans that adore him and management that has been willing to go out of its way to accomodate him? Or is he just being a drama queen? The Red Sox are leaving it to him to make the next move. If Manny truly wants a trade, then the Red Sox could try to get something done and maybe pick up Adam Dunn as a replacement. The Mets are the one team that would make real sense as a destination. Even if the Angels wanted him, the Red Sox probably wouldn't want to send him to a team they could well end up facing in October.
I don't think even McCarver is dumb enough to get this wrong. Teams in the past might not have wanted Manny's contract but they this year. It will be extremely interesting to see what goes on from here.

What else is new? Doubt he goes anywhere.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Me too. He's too nasty for the Sox to afford losing him.

Rumor has it the most feasible locations for Manny are the Angels or the Mets.

Boston won't send him to the Angels because there's a chance they would face them in the playoffs.

Good luck with that one. I don't think he's going anywhere.

I'm not counting on it. I mean, it wouldn't shock me. Personally, I'm actually seriously interested in Adam Dunn if I'm the Mets.

That's more of a possibility than the Mets getting Manny.

Like I said, I wouldn't bet on them getting Manny, but I also wouldn't be shocked. I'd like Dunn, but I don't think that's gonna happen.

Most likely, they will either overpay for Ibanez, or they will pull that "we like what we have" bull****

Kinda like what the Twins are doing about the whole Liriano situation....

but to the tast at hand...

Manny stays in Boston, becomes a FA (Boras' client), and signs some ludacris contract.

    Re: Bye Bye Manny?

well, he'd get a ludicrous contract with the Mets too. Plus, we have to deal with Bor-AS'S other client, Oliver Perez. Boras could make a shitload off of us.

Manny will not get the money he's making in Boston anywhere else but Boston.

Or New York. and there is no way in gods' name that Theo Epstein would ever let that happen. So I agree. Manny will not go anywhere.
