    Joe Torre new Dodgers manager

Dodgers to replace Little with Torre

The Dodgers are set to hire Joe Torre as manager, The Journal News is reporting.
Grady Little will be fired less than a month after ownership said he'd be back as manager. Don Mattingly is expected to follow Torre to Los Angeles as the bench coach. Perhaps it will work out that Mattingly will take over there if Torre retires in a couple of years. It will be very interesting to see if the Dodgers end up with either Alex Rodriguez or Mariano Rivera. They don't need the closer, but if Rivera wants to play there, he'd be of plenty of help. ****.

Not so much because they hired Torre as much as it might convince Mariano, Pettite, and A-Rod to go to the Dodgers.

If the Dodgers do in fact hire Torre and also manage to get Mattingly as their bench coach, I think this is a very good move for them.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

Re: Joe Torre new Dodgers manager

This isn't set in stone yet guys so everyone can slow down. I do think this is a great move. Everyone thinks Torre is a good manager because he had Yankee money but when he first got there, it wasn't about Yankees money. It was about young guys meshing with veteran players. Torre didn't win a ******* thing with the Yankee money we saw after 2001. Torre had immediate impacts on the Braves, Cards and Yankees. The Dodgers have the same situation that the Yankees had in 96, young talent and some aging stars. Torre helped mold guys like Pettitte, Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Cano, Wang and Cabrera. He can do the same with guys like Martin, Kemp, Ethier, Billingsly and LaRoche/Abreu plus put up with guys like Kent and Lowe. Great move for the Dodgers if in fact it comes true.

I think LA's young players just shit their pants when they heard Larry Bowa was coming to town.

Good now Bowa can kick them in their shit covered asses and get them to play as a team rather than having the young guys vs the old guys as Luis Gonzalez put it. Now Luis wants back in LA with Torre there. Sorry Luis but you are too old.

Re: Joe Torre new Dodgers manager

Gonzo's *****ing about PT led to having the young guys vs. the old guys. Gonzo can go ahead and retire as a Dbag or replace Bonds in San Francisco.
