Red Sox Red Sox 3B Lowell intrested in joining the Yankees?

Red Sox slugger won't rule out NY

While free agent-to-be Curt Schilling has expressed hesitancy playing for the Yankees next year, the same can't be said for Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell. The 33-year-old, however, wants to make it clear that the idea of playing in New York has less to do with a potential opening or how much money might be offered and more to do with his history with the organization.

If ARod opts out I'd be happy w/ Lowell.

As much as I hate to say this since without Lowell, the Sox would be ****ed, it makes a lot of sense if A-Rod goes.

    A. He is the best 3B on the market besides A-Rod (by FAR). If Rodriguez leaves, then he becomes the best option for the Yankees.

    B. He was in the Yankees organization before.

    C. They are likely to give a huge offer to capitalize off of this contract year.

    D. If he moved his family to Boston, he wouldn't be far/the move wouldn't be far.

Plus, I think the Sox might not re-sign him for various reasons, a major one being that it might open up a slot in the lineup for Ellsbury. (Move Youk back to third even though he's been gold glove caliber at first, teach one of the OFs or Ortiz to play first, and stick Ellsbury in the OF with Manny at DH).
