Yeah, giving Andy Phillips at-bats is a bad idea...1.000 Fielding %, .304/.350/.420 through 112 ABs.
Seriously, how can you say that?

You're right, 112 2007 at bats completely erase his 246 2006 at bats. I'm glad you're around to throw around this sort of knowledge.
Even Bubba Crosby had flashes of competence and we know how that worked out.

This gives Tony Abreu, if he isn't traded in the next hour, more at-bats now that Betemit is gone. Proctor's been sucking, but Roberto Hernandez and Rudy Seanez weren't any better.
Proctor is done. His career is over. Torre "Dusty Baker'd" him. He has no command of his pitches and he's a good bet for some sort of debilitating arm injury. If only the Dodgers took Farnsworth too.

Well, that's just great. We get our latest Mike Trombley/Terry Mulholland.
Dumb trade by the Yankees. They got rid of a pitcher and did nothing to help their bullpen. The Dodgers meanwhile got rid of an extra infielder and got a reliever. He might fair better in a pitcher's park but expect more of the same.
its joba time babes. so long scotty... shame we couldnt get 3 batting practice baseballs for farnsworth.
I was being a little extreme there, but he's nothing special.

It may and may not. Have they done it yet?
I thought Cairo was released a long time agoYankees acquired third baseman Wilson Betemit from the Dodgers for RHP Scott Proctor.
The Dodgers could look awfully bad here if Betemit is the Yankees’ third baseman next year and Proctor has undergone elbow surgery. The latter scenario is probably more likely. Betemit is one of the game’s 30-best third baseman and is fine insurance for the possibility of Alex Rodriguez leaving, but A-Rod is unlikely to go anywhere and even if he does, the Yankees are rarely a team to settle. The switch-hitting Betemit could figure into the Yankees’ picture at first base for the rest of the season. He’d outhit Andy Phillips as a first baseman against right-handers, but Phillips should keep playing versus lefties. He is also far better protection than Miguel Cairo in the event of an injury to Rodriguez or Derek Jeter.
Cairo really does well in late and tight situations for us, and he's very servicable.
It doesn't matter anyway, because Torre never uses his bench.
And yes, Andy Phillips has done exactly what we need him to do; 12-36 with RISP, .333 Also during late & Close, raking against all releivers.
Check it out before you pass judgement. Also, did I mention he is playing the best defense at first base we've seen since before Tino?
Andy Phillips 2007 Batting Splits - Baseball-Reference PI
I don't care if he's an Ozzie Smith re-incarnate that happens to be stuck at 1B. He's not as good of a hitter as Betemit. I like Phillips, I think he's probably a really nice guy who fell on hard times last season and I definitely sympathize with that. But unfortunately, that doesn't mean he's Lou Gehrig...or even Randall Simon.

Yeah, whatever dude, look at the stats.
Andy Phillips is ****ing raking, playing sick defense, and you shit him out for a utility player worth Scott Proctor?
Sorry man. Seriously, are we watching the same team? Phillips is integral to our winning streak. I bet you're one of the people clamoring for Giambi to comeback and **** up the lineup again.
