Blue Jays Rumor: Jays Sign Tomo Ohka

    From Rotoworld:

The Blue Jays and Tomo Ohka have reportedly come to terms on a one-year deal.

Ohka declined two-year proposals from the Pirates and Nationals in the hopes that there'd be a bigger market for his services next year. We're not thrilled with his chances of posting a sub-5.00 ERA in the AL, but he still should be a better choice for the Toronto rotation than Shaun Marcum, Casey Janssen or Josh Towers. His addition means that John Thomson will now have more of a battle on his hands as he attempts to secure the fifth spot.

I like Ohka but his shoulder will cause some problems throughout the year so having Thomson as another option is a good thing.

Agreed, you can never have to much pitching and the Jays give themselves some security by only handing Ohka a 1-year deal.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett
