Mariners sign Miguel Batista 3y/24m

The Seattle Times reports that the Mariners and Miguel Batista have agreed to terms on a three-year deal worth more than $24 million.
An awful lot of money to spend on durability. The Mariners had as much need for a top-of-the-rotation starter as any team in baseball, but they've so far settled for adding Batista and Horacio Ramirez to a rotation that will also include Felix Hernandez and Jarrod Washburn. Unless they turn back to John Thomson or overpay for someone else, either Cha Seung Baek or Jake Woods will open the season as the fifth starter. Dec. 11 - 9:16 pm et
