    Nationals shopping Chad Cordero?

Who would close, freakin' Jon Rauch?

The Nationals are reportedly asking for three players in return for Chad Cordero, one a top prospect and another a major league-ready starting pitcher.
Cordero has plenty of value, but it seems unlikely that any team will meet the Nationals' asking price. The Red Sox and Giants are two teams that likely would love to have Cordero, but neither fits up well with the Nationals in trade talks. The Mets do and are believed to have inquired about Cordero, but if they're going to trade Lastings Milledge and one of their top young pitchers, they should get a starter back.

You do realize Reds fans have likely lost a few months of their potential life expectancy don't you? We need a closer, they have a closer. We didn't just pay an arm and a leg last July, but the whole damn body (thus leading to what they expect the market to be for someone of more legitimate talent such as Cordero.) Harang and Joey Votto, how does that sound McKain? You guys can even have Bailey instead of Votto if you throw in someone with a vet presence to platoon at first (the older the better, we have no desires on the skill level.) Subpar prospects who will never see a MLB starting lineup (or shouldn't) would be super too.

But seriously, that's a ridiculous asking price. Wow.

Do they still have Will Cordero? Cause I would think it would be amazingly hilarious if they dealt two Cordero's to Cinci, just to piss on their fruitloops.

And it would meet mission's sarcastic trade theory. Beautiful! Make magic happen, now!

C'mon, this is the Reds we're talking about here, we don't have fruitloops. But a box of third world generic cheerios that's been sitting open for three years that Krivsky takes out back and spray paints. It's not like we're bitter or anything, because we know our cash is being well spent on 40 year old relievers and shortstop's who can't hit. Tis' all good.

Third world generic cheerios? You mean the ones Aldi's sells?
That's just harsh. You have to give the reds more credit than that, someone told them Royce Clayton could play like Miguel Tejada. I mean, it was a huge fake out on Washington's part.

They're not activley shopping Cordero, from what I gather - everyone's asking about him, and that's what they're asking for in return. And yes, Rauch would close if he goes.

As for Mission - frankly something like an Aaron Harang/Joey Votto/Brandon Phillips for a Chad Cordero/Michael Restovich to complete the 1B platoon. I can dig it.
