With the 4C selection in the 2014 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select:
Colt Lyerla, Tight End, Oregon
After many hours of careful deliberation in our war room, the New York Giants have decided our best option for this pick is to go Tight End once again. Although there are several other names that maybe ahead of Colt Lyerla on other team's boards, we think that, with some refinement, he can be a talented Tight End for our team for a very long time. Obviously there are some red flags associated with Colt, but we will engage in the necessary procedures to ensure that Colt matures and does not have any run-ins with the law while he is a player on our roster. What made the Giants pick him over other Tight Ends is his dynamic athleticism. He has very good straight-line speed for a tight end, a lot of agility, and great balance to operate in open space. He has very good eye-hand coordination which is obvious anytime a ball is thrown in his direction. Although he can improve his route-running and blocking technique, he is still a willing blocker with a nasty attitude. We hope that Colt can turn himself around on our team and become a critical playmaker in this offense.
