This is my one money league with all my college buddies, 11 team league (don't ask, someone ****ed up), standard scoring (AVG, HR, RBI, Runs, SB, Win, WHIP, ERA, K, Saves). Also, someone offered me Ben Sheets for Niemann, don't think I'm going to do it, but what do you guys think?

For an 11-team league, I would like to have a better #2 Util than Mark DeRosa, but I understand if that was the trade-off to having a deep pitching staff and it might not be an issue if Jason Heyward breaks out. Gordon Beckham is your X-factor as to whether you'll be competitive in HR. Were you hoping to get Franklin Gutierrez in one of the late rounds?

DeRosa was one of my last picks, I'm not sure why I didn't take someone better, but I was pretty distracted watching the Duke game. I think I'll be alright in the HR dept., I went young with a lot of guys I like in Jones, Beckham, Drew, and Wieters and I think they all easily surpass 20 HR's if healthy. I took Cameron over Guti, I think Mike will have a nice year in Fenway. Heyward will be my x-factor, he may be a stud but I could probably swing him in a pretty favorable trade to the Braves fan who wanted him a round later.

More risk than I'd like in that offense. You need Weiters, Drew, Beckham, Jones and Coughlin to all improve to challenge.

I like to live life on the edge.

And the odds of those guys improving are pretty good. Only Jones played a full season last year.

Mike Cameron is a nice, presumably somewhat later pick, as I too agree that he could have a nice year in Fenway.

Since you did go so young, the Beckham pick does concern me somewhat. Streaky last year it seems and hopefully he won't be bit by the sophomore slump. But with your young gambles, you don't need them all to bank to call it a success of course as you can trade to fill gaps.

Still though, you got some top tier young talent. Were your buddies all asleep at the keyboard? lol

12 team Yahoo Public Head to Head. 11th pick overall. Vernon Wells is most likely out the door for another RP. The bench isnt great and I have a ton of young SPs.

Not much going on in the speed and saves department, but other than that looks like a solid squad for a 12 man league. Love Josh Johnson this year, he went right before my pick and I had to take Lester. I'd rate it a solid 8/10.

Zambrano was a steal at 16. Outside of a rough April and one tiny bad patch later in the year, the dude was a solid ace. Just look at his September, great K/9 and held batters under .200.

What is the average position for McCutchen? Is round 5 too high in a 10 team league.. basing it on he's going to make the leap in his first full year? On the flip side, Cantu is that low? You know he's going to give you power and drive in others, and because the other corner guys are Bonificio and Gaby Sanchez, the playing time is always there.

Re: Official rate my team thread

From what I could tell from the 10-to-12 team mock drafts I was in, McCutchen is rated just above Bobby Abreu, Denard Span, and Nelson Cruz. McCutchen went in the 7th round (62nd overall) in my 10-team draft, and given that half of them were autopicks, it's a good indication that he was selected pretty close to his expected draft position. Thus, Round 5 does seem a bit high for McCutchen.

He should be good for steals. But his protection is going to be.. Garret Jones, the other Laroche, and some other.. odds and ends? I don't know, I think he's a great late pick for potential purposes. Abreu is a safe pick, Cruz plays in a little league yard and could have some decent bats around him, and Span isn't too bad either.

According to Yahoo, I did pick him a little high, yes. His average is 6.3. But I am high on him and I felt like he was going to get picked soon since outfielders were going fast.
