FTR, Puckett got in his second year of eligibility with 82%...so I don't agree with you all at all

Guys, Larry Walker was a good hitter regardless of where he played.

I agree he was a great hitter as was Kirby Puckett although I really never saw him play since I was only 3 when he finished his career, but both being HOFers I don't think they should be or should have been inducted in Kirby's case.

Larry Walker was a good hitter. We're not denying that, Dry. It's just that his stats are at best borderline. And I don't think that he's going to be able to get in. Sorry.

Fantastic. Thank you for your pearls of enlightenment. If you'd like to comment on his HALL OF FAME credibility, we've got just the thread for you!

Is anyone here denying he wasn't a good hitter? No!
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

It isn't a difficult thing to do.
Go for it. His 3rd most comparable player on Baseball-Reference is Ellis Burks, who's not a Hall of Famer and won't be. So I can just as easily find you comparable players not in the Hall.

And like I said about your comparison of Walker to Kirby Puckett. Puckett was a great hitter, but I don't think he should have gotten intothe Hall Of Fame either.

How about Dante Bichette. Larry's BA was .14 higher, 109 more HR, 170 more RBI, 254 more hits. Yes, he's better than Bichette, but significantly enough to make him a Hall of Famer? Because Bichette is NOT a hall of famer.

Someone was trying to make a point that Walker was only good at Coors. Factually, not true! I have already commented on his HOF status so please go **** yourself

Re: Larry Walker, hall of famer?

Oh yeah, 100 home runs is nothing...I mean, there is a tiny difference between 300 and 400...oh, wait, there is a huge difference.
Plus what is the OBP and SLG difference?

    Yogi Berra: .285 AVG, 358 HR, 26 SB, .830 OPS, 2150 H, 1430 RBI, .986 FP, 20 OFAST (260 G), 7555 AB
    Walker: .313 AVG, 383 HR, 230 SB, .965 OPS, 2160 H, 1311 RBI, .987 FP, 155 OFAST, 6907 AB

    Walker: .313 AVG, 383 HR, 230 SB, .965 OPS, 2160 H, 1311 RBI, .987 FP, 155 OFAST, 6907 AB
    Duke Snider: .295 AVG, 407 HR, 99 SB, .920 OPS, 2116 H, 1333 RBI, .985 FP, 123 OFAST, 7161 AB

    Walker: .313 AVG, 383 HR, 230 SB, .965 OPS, 2160 H, 1311 RBI, .987 FP, 155 OFAST, 6907 AB
    George Kell: .306 AVG, 78 HR, 51 SB, .781 OPS, 2054 H, 870 RBI, .969 FP, 6702 AB

Oh, but Yogi played Catcher and won MVPs...well MVPs are as much of a popularity contest as Gold Gloves...Oh but Duke had 4 awesome seasons in a row...Oh, but George Kell had...wait, George Kell is worse than Walker.

    Do you want more?

I can keep going, but Duke Snider, George Kell and Yogi Berra are all pretty legit Hall of Famers...and Kirby Puckett...and Carl Yastremski...

So wait, Walker is on par with them, why is he not in? Perception. Objectively, he belongs in the Hall.

Re: Larry Walker, hall of famer?

I'm pretty sure the argument was that he was significantly better at Coors. Which IS factually true. He was NOT a HoF-er outside of Coors. I understand that you would agree with this, so I'm not attacking you LTR. It's simple numbers. He just won't make the HoF.

PS: My point was not that Bichette was as good. More that the difference is not enough to put Walker in. Walker is just a very good player who won't get in. Like Jim Rice or Lee Smith

Re: Larry Walker, hall of famer?

That's not true though since we never will know what he WOULD do. Fact is he was a great hitter with Montreal. He just so happened to be signed by the Rockies and he continued to be a great hitter. Same with Todd Helton. He is a great hitter no matter where he plays.
    Players he is comparable to:
    1. Chipper Jones (911)
    2. Duke Snider (891) *
    3. Ellis Burks (884)
    4. Joe DiMaggio (871) *
    5. Moises Alou (870)
    6. Johnny Mize (860) *
    7. Manny Ramirez (858)
    8. Chuck Klein (843) *
    9. Vladimir Guerrero (841)
    10. Edgar Martinez (837)

7 of those are definite Hall of Famers...

Alou and Burks aren't, EMart is a maybe.

BTW, according to this site, Walker outranks Winfield and a couple other HOFers...http://mysite.verizon.net/vze2x57w/s...trics/id1.html
