    Opening Weekend Called Off

Opening Weekend in Cleveland has been called off due to incliment weather.it was cold and snowy all weekend, making it impossible to play ball.

Game one of the Indians v. Mariners series was called with one out,one strike away from an official game. The ump called it when, with two strikes against him,the hitter complained about the light snow.

Saturday was supposed to be a doubleheader, but it got cancelled.Sunday was supposed to be a doubleheader, but it got cancelled. Now they are supposed to have a doubleheader on Monday, but it will probally be cancelled to.

I don't ever remember an opening day, much less an opening weekend, being cancelled by the weather.

Not only does this suck for the fans who bought tickets for the game, but it sucks for the Indians when it comes to the standing in the AL Central, baseball's most competitive division.Every game missed is a half-game lost to a winner in the division.

    AL Central Standings:

    Team/W-L/Winning %/Games Back

    Minnesota/4-1/.800/-
    Cleveland/2-1/.664/1
    Detroit/3-2/.600/1
    Chicago/2-3/.400/2
    Kansas City/2-4/.333/2.5
    Cleveland Indians : 0-5, 5th AL Central
Pittsburgh Pirates Record: 3-2. 1st NL Central

It was so wierd seeing the whole field covered in snow on TV. I never think of snow in early April, especially down in Oklahoma. So are the games going to be made up later in the season or are they just cancelled?
Integrity can accommodate the inadvertent error and the honest difference of opinion; it cannot accommodate deceit or subordination of principle.

It looks like they are cancelled and will be amde up at a later date.

However, this was the M's only visit to Cleveland this season,so they'll have to fly out when the teams both have off days to play the games.

What will probally happen,is they'll wait to see if the games need played for the Indians or Mariners to clinch a wild card or division title. If so,they'll be played...if not they just won't play the games.
