only 3.1 for Bailey? Is he still tender? And can Bergolla be stopped this year? Wow I am really impressed by him right now.

Bergolla and Ramirez have to be our best guys down in the system right now. Great news.

“Gardner has the best command in the organization, throwing three pitches for strikes. He keeps his sinker down while throwing it at 90-94 mph. His slider kept improving over the course of last season and now rates as the best in the system. His changeup mimics his fastball with late sink and helps him attack lefthanders.”

“The Reds like Gardner’s no-fear attitude as much as they like his three-pitch mix. It will be hard fto keep him out of Cincinnati if he repeats his pro debut in 2005. While discussing Gardner during Monday night’s game, Ken Griffey Sr. said that Gardner should be in Cincinnati before the end of the season.”

    ****

Gardner allowed 5 runs in 5 IP today but also had 8 K's. He's off to a tough start but he'll bounce back.

    • Reds righthander Bobby Basham, who was ranked the Reds No. 2 prospect following the 2002 season, picked up his first win since June 12, 2003 with six solid innings in high Class A Sarasota’s 5-3 win over Tampa. Basham had been hampered by a series of shoulder problems since going 6-4, 1.64 in 13 starts for Dayton in 2002.

Todd Coffey - RHP Reds - A rough spring ruined Coffey’s chances of making the Reds, but he’s up for a brief look now. The Reds will send him back to Triple-A once they get some of their injured pitchers back. Coffee had a 64/6 K/BB ratio in 59 IP between Double- and Triple-A last season. With a big fastball and a quality splitter, he could be a long-term setup man in front of Ryan Wagner. Expect him to join the Reds for good after the All-Star break.

Kevin Howard and William Bergolla are trying to become the favorites for the Reds second baseman of the future.

    Kevin Howard:
    Level: AA
    Age: 23
    Bats: Left
    Throws: Right
    Ht: 6-2
    Wt: 190

    Stats: .340 BA/.395 OBP/.600 SLG

My opinion-I like Howard a little more than Bergolla right now. Howard hits for more power and has better plate discipline.

    William Bergolla:
    Level: AAA
    Age: 22
    Bats: Right
    Throws: Right
    Ht: 6-0
    Wt. 175

    Stats: .333 BA/.364 OBP/.492 SLG

My opinion-More raw potential than Howard, but Howard is more likely to become the better player. Bergolla is a speed burner who could be a good player if he improves his walk rates.

Bubba Nelson has a great shot at being called up by the Reds if he continues to pitch like this.

After tonight's outing Bubba's stats are now:

    8 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 9 K, 0.88 WHIP, 0.00 ERA

I think you confused Olmedo with Olmstead? Olmstead is a big 1B/OF at Sarasota.

I don't think Olmedo has started playing yet.
