    How is Rob Stratton doing?
I'd walk through hell in a gasoline suit to play baseball.

    Dragons tales:

Outfielder B. J. Szymanski continued to have soreness in his right knee and went for an MRI in the afternoon. Results were not immediately available.

Szymanski, the Reds' second-round draft pick last summer, played in the opening four-game series at South Bend and was in the lineup for the home opener Tuesday when his knee began to bother him. It wasn't any better Wednesday, prompting the MRI.

    • Sandoval, by the way, was not necessarily expected to make the Dragons out of spring training, but played so well, he was added to the team. It helps that he can play second, third and short. In addition to his winning hit against the Whitecaps, he had a triple and another single. He also knocked in two of the runs, the first on a fielder's choice.

Man I hope B.J. is not hurt long term. We need him to big a big prospect and be ready in about 4 years when Griffey retires. Injuries can really harpen that progress.

As for Szymanski, he's scheduled for a right knee operation Monday and will be on the disabled list for two to four weeks. Taking his place on the Dragons' roster will be catcher John Purdom, who has been with the Dragons since Opening Day, but on the disabled list.

"It was pretty good news," said Szymanski, who saw the Reds' Dr. Tim Kremchek earlier in the day. He hurt the knee doing calisthenics Tuesday.

"It's just a bone chip that has to come out. My right knee has never been as good as my left knee, but I never missed a single game in any sport because of it. I took batting practice on Tuesday and then did some jogging. Nothing bothered me. Then I did some high knees (an exercise lifting the knees to about waist level) and it got stiff."

    ************

    • Homer Bailey, last summer's No. 1 draft choice for the Reds, is expected to start tonight, but the Dragons will have to make room for him on the roster, either putting a player on the DL or assigning one to a rookie league roster.

It also helped Ramirez run his Triple-A scoreless streak to 14 innings. The 22-year-old allowed only four hits in seven innings while striking out five.

"He's a pretty special pitcher," Sardinha said. "They can really use him up in Cincinnati eventually. This year, I think."

The Bats now will start their first road trip of the season, an eight-game trek to Richmond and Norfolk. They will return home April 23.

ERam does seem to have everything working for him which is great. But I think there are plenty of other pitchers higher on the depth cahrt than him for a callup this year. Good to see BJ will not be out for too long.

Who? Coffey, Hudson? and maybe Keisler.

    Childress maybe.

Ramirez could be up by July. He is only 22 years old, btw.

If he wants to remain a starter:
    Claussen
    Hudson
    Hancock
    Belisle
    Ramirez
    Robertson

    For a bullpen spot:
    Belisle
    Valentine
    Coffey
Keisler (only if Mercker gets hurt)
    Ramirez

This is just how I see it though.
