I think he's better than what he indicated last year but nowhere close to what he is showing this year. I sincerly hope we see LaRue next year as a Cincy player.

I totally agree. He was just awful last year, and probably isn't that bad, as he does have some power potential quite clearly, but he is nothing close to being as good as he's been this year. He is just seeing the ball very well right now.

LaRue has been consistently good on the other hand. I'm amazed that some continue to not appreciate his offensive contributions.

Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.

I think we have been blessed with our catching talent this season. I would not place Valentin over LaRue on the depth chart either as LaRue has been on a near equal tear. They have both been better than what the past has shown. I definitely want LaRue around next season, but I do not think that Valentin should depart as our backup anytime soon either.

I am happy with the current tandem we have. Valentin is playing above his head and LaRue can go through nasty slumps, so it only makes sense to keep them both around.

With that said, I really do hope the Reds start trying to acquire a good catching prospect. Our farm is so bleak in regards to that.
