Three minor leaguers suspended for drug violation

NEW YORK (AP) – Three minor leaguers were suspended Friday for 15 games by the commissioner’s office for violating baseball’s minor league drug policy.

Those suspended were: Carlos Bohorquez, a pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization; Alexandre Santos, a pitcher in the Oakland Athletics organization; and Matthew Whiteside, a pitcher with the Toronto Blue Jays system.

Their suspensions bring the number of minor leaguers penalized for violations under the minor league program to 80. Five have been suspended under the major league policy.
