It looks like the 'L'-scalator is back again in Cincy!

We had that at Cinergy during the LeBeau/Shula/Coslet Era.

I'm sure Tom Groeschen (Enquirer scribe) will laugh about seeing that after he dubbed it that name.

Does Chris Henry ever catch it when he really needs to?

One last play here. Will it end?

    The Ravens are (7-2).

    The Bengals are (4-5).

    We aren't even competitive.

Can everyone PLEASE stop overrating the head coach of this currently below-average team?

And Dierdorf wondered why everyone headed down the 'L'-scalator? Everyone knows what Marvin, Carson, Henry and crew do in the clutch.

In the clutch...sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Some franchises get it done, others don't.

BTW, we might be one game ahead of the Steelers/Browns after today.

    Wow.

Will it turn into a battle for last place, below average (below .500) teams between the Bengals, Steelers and Browns?

Well considering that the Chargers had the #2 ranked defense in the NFL coming into this game and the Bengals torched them, I'd say that was competitive. The Ravens got lucky against a very bad Tennessee team.

And not having T.J. for that last drive sucked, which is exactly why McCree did it. He knew that the Chargers D couldn't beat the Bengals straight up, so he took the cowards way out and purposely injure a player.

BTW CRF, You are the eternal pessimist. Must really suck to be you. Constantly finding the rain instead of the rainbow. You are so blind that you cannot even see ANY good in anyone or anything. I pity you.

I think you're confusing stating facts with pessimism.

For example, we are three games behind the Ravens, and that is anything but competitive for nine games into the season.

However, you are only stating the facts that HELP your argument, not the ones that hurt your argument. It might help you to learn some objectivity.

    What facts?

The team is (4-5) and has not even been competitive with the Ravens so far this year.

There's no way to spin that.

    It's simply the truth.

BTW, I am not the only one furious about this game/team. Take a look at teh Enquirer's site, Mark Curnutte's blog and other places.

What do you mean they weren't competitive with the Ravens? They had a chance to win the game at the end. If the zebras actually call the pass interference on the Ravens, that drive wouldn't have ended. Who knows what would have happened. Plus, if Henry had actually tried to catch that pass, he might have made something happen.

To say that a team who has lost 3 games by 7 points or less is not competitive shows me that you don't know the meaning of the word competitive.

    CRF,

Since the Bengals won against a good team, you suddenly have nothing to say? Imagine that.

Punks! You guys had to beat up on my Saints I see.

Brees threw for the record passing yards in Saints history and you still blew them out. Ocho Cinco is an animal.

    Good game!

They are now a .500 team.

    Thrilling.

They are still three full games behind the (8-2) Ravens and have them, the Broncos and the Colts looming on the schedule.

And I'm not entirely sold on the Saints. I think emotion has been a big lift for them and they are starting to return to earth a bit.

Our defense is still a huge concern. We are lucky they didn't give up 2 extra TDs today. We had to have Brees make a couple poor throws in order to prevent the Saints from scoring 30 points today. They also threw a franchise record number of passing yards today.

So, I am pleased with the win, but the team is still a long way away from having even a chance at the playoffs, particularly with the Ravens continuing to look stellar under Billick's leadership.

Well, another stellar game by Carson Palmer (who CRF deemed overrated) and the Bengals' offense. The defense played well (albeit against the Browns). Bring on the Ravens Thursday Night!
