Scratch that excitement, Lincoln was left to pitch the 10th. It's over barring a miracle.

You called that right. Although we did threaten in the bottom of the 10th.

I think this team showed a lot of flaws for this team. Bad outfield defense (Drew's triple should have been caught by Dunn). Griffey's inability to get the job done in the 3rd spot in the order. He simply is not a fir for that spot anymore. I am tired of people seeing it and the manager not employing the obvious move. Today defined the need for him to move down in the order.

What a wretched team Krivsky pieced together.

Thankfully it appears Jocketty will likely try to fix his engulfing mess.

The offense is breath-takingly poor, the defense is head-slappingly miserable and the pitching, particularly the rotation, is in complete shambles.

That lineup sure looks WAY better in the games Patterson's not playing or out of the leadoff spot.

Reds tonight - wretched pitching and hitting again
Cards tonight- solid pitching and excellent hitting

It's on the horizon. I can't wait for the trades to start coming!

How does Lohse become the ace of the staff on a good team and he was just a struggling number 4 on ours? Dick Pole firing needs to happen!

Yeah, I truly believe Pole's clueless. He appears to make pitchers who show lots of skill in the minors loss MPH off fastballs, control and demonstrate other issues. He needs to go ASAP. Time to hire Rockin' Leo.

I didn't find Gullett to be good; pitchers never seemed to improve... but even with him, I can never recall players who had an iota of talent getting WORSE.

I fear if he's around much longer he'll find a way to screw up Volquez.

He's already seemingly tinkered with Cueto; I simply think Johnny has done his best to ignore Pole's "advice."

    Thompson better watch out!!

I don't think its entirely fair to judge Gullet as his talent pool was thin. Not that I think he was a top-tier pitching coach, but I would be much more comfortable assessing him if he had this type of talent vs the rehab project of the month.

I hear that both Welsh and Brantley noticed a problem in Volquez' mechanics tonight.

If they were able to spot that issue, why could Pole not seem to do so?? He truly seems absolutely clueless!!

    Please fire him.

    Jason Stark:

The Yanks checked in on Aaron Harang, but that's a moot point since he's ailing.

I hate that we won this game! Big time! Freakin' Brewer defense. This just makes Jocketty have to hold off even longer to figure out where this team is. Man, we won in the worst way too. We didn't earn this win. The Brewers gave this one away. Garbage!

We need to lose and at the same time we need to see our young guys mature. Neither of those things happened tonight. Lets lose some games and climb up the draft pick list for next season.

All I'll say is whats the point to pay a guy more than 10 mil a year if he's not even going to try and go out there? If it was Baker's call then Baker ought to payback his game pay. If it was Cordero I wish we could send him to the minors and remind him just how nice he has it.

Owings is the MAN. He gave us EVERYTHING he had tonight and then some. Its a shame he gets the L hung on him. I gained a lot of respect for Owings tonight and will be putting my ear to the ground to see whats said coming out of Reds camp about it.

    Prediction though:
Nick Massett to DL, Darnell McDonald DFA/Demoted/Released.

Homer Bailey called up as emergency starter if Owings needs more time or sees some time in the pen to buy some innings.
    Matt Maloney fills Massetts role.
HollywoodLeo: You and Kingdom always annoy me
"Oh, don't mind me, I'm rebuilding now" then you win at least 80 games
