    Reds Owings Claims 5th Spot?

Despite allowing six hits and walking five batters, Micah Owings gave up just one run in four innings Thursday in a win over the Twins.
It's certainly not how he'd prefer to do it every time, but that Owings was able to limit the damage on an off night means this shouldn't hurt his cause at all. He's the leading candidate to be named the Reds' fifth starter with his 1.45 ERA in 18 2/3 innings this spring.
Owings had a great start last year and then completely fell off due to a shoulder injury. Reds fans can only hope he has a more complete, healthy year. Owings adds more to his game because he can flat out hit.

Micah Owings rocks. His game winning double against the Dbacks one day after they officially traded him was sweet.
