Weathers Accepts

Free agent David Weathers has accepted the Reds' offer of arbitration, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
So there's one surprise after all. It looked like Weathers would get a multiyear deal after another nice season in 2008, but his market apparently hadn't come together as hoped. He'll probably end up receiving about $3.5 million in a one-year deal with the Reds.

At Weathers age, I don't think too many teams were willing to give a multiyear deal. Good for the Reds that Weathers is staying though.

Yep I am pretty happy to see them keep Stormy. Now we dont have to worry about replacing him or Lincoln. Just gotta replace Affeldt now.

Danny Ray Herrera says "hello". Might as well see if that "gimmick pitch" can stick in the majors. He was just sick at every level last year. Plus he wouldnt cost more than the minimum.

It will be interesting to see how Herrera fairs in ST. Not much to compare him to at the MLB level, that I can think of anyway.

Herrera, Roenicke, and Ramon Ramirez all interest me as bullpen options. I think they are planning on using them in Louisville next year and hoping they will fill in nicely as replacements for injuries.
