Player Can Volquez win the pitching Triple Crown?

Can someone edit the topic title? I meant to put "win". Lol.

Current stats (as of June 13th, 2008):
Wins - 9 (Tied for 2nd for ML Lead)
    Strikeouts - 96 (1st in ML)
Earned Run Average - 1.56 (1st in ML)

Do you think that Edinson Volquez can maintain his amazing pitching for the Cincinnati Reds and continue this current stretch and win the pitching triple crown? It would be a tremendous feat, especially for a kid his age, but I certainly think he can do it if he keeps pitching like he's pitching right now.

I watched this kid pitch against the Philadelphia Phillies and the Florida Marlins - both very solid offenses from top to bottom - and he shut both of them down. This kid is very impressive and is really something to cheer about considering how terrible the number one starter, Aaron Harang, has been.

He is a phenominal pitcher , but I think he will not keep up with the wins.

How about Hamilton wins the batting triple crown and Volquez wins the pitching. Now that would be something.

I agree with Bon Bon, he is a great pitcher and will be for the Reds many years to come. But i think he will not be able to keep up the wins. He should be able to maintain his ERA (i hope) and his strikeouts, just not his wins. There will be days that he just wont get the run support. It would be nice for him to prove me wrong, but I just don't see a Cincinnati Reds pitcher winning the pitching triple crown.

I think he can do the strikeouts and earned run average, but with guys like Brandon Webb, Carlos Zambrano, Tim Lincecum, etc. in the division the wins column might be out of reach.

Well if he can keep up the other two categories, he will have a good chance with the wins.... But its a slim chance

Idk...I mean, he's got great stuff, but team won't give him the wins...If anyone's gonna win the triple crown, it will be either Volquez, Lincecum, or maybe Johan. I know I'm biased, but Johan is 4 wins out of first(2 behind volquez, and if he picks it up, he'll be fine), has a 2.85 ERA and falling(and volquez and lincecum will not stay below 2.00), and is 6th in K's, only 10 back of first place. I don't think anyone else really has a shot at all 3

there's a TON of the season left to go. i doubt he makes it. however i'm not at all taking away from what this kid has done, he's phenomenal on the mound right now.
