Bruce, Bruce, Bruce, Bruce, Bruce, Bruce

That is all I can say. Not a great pitching performance, but a pretty awesome offensive stride tonight. BP and EdE had a bad night and we need them against this next plunge against 4 lefties in a row. But this was Bruce's night! Hairston, Dunn, and Votto had big nights as well, but Bruce took the cake as it was a bigger debut than expected.

The question amounts to who had a bigger debut; Cueto or Bruce? It's a tough one to answer. Let's see what you guys think. Great thoughts tonight from mission in our needing a CF for the future. Perhaps Maloney could get us a right handed CF prospect somewhere?

I enjoyed this tonight fellas. Thanks for hanging out!

    MVP: Bruce

I did as well redsr! sorry I couldn't provide more updates, MLB.tv is really bad on my laptop, it freezes and buffers like every half second, so it's so choppy it just sucks.

I agree. This guy is going to be a bigtime player

His approach tonight was insane, most impressive thing IMO.

I can second that as you can just tell what kind of player he can be by that type of makeup. Even without looking at his talent, considering his age and what level he played at just two seasons ago, he looks more like he is 31 and not 21. Of course he will run into his troubles and need to adjust, but this is the debut we all wanted. A big game from him and a Reds win, what more do you need?

FYI, FSN Ohio is reshowing the game at like 12 PM (or around there), in case anyone wants to tape it.

I will be watching that approach here momentarily. I have to watch that game on the archives.

I expect Bruce to post Sir Albert-like numbers for this team. Those are the expectations he will have from me, which means he should be able to carry the team offensively when others aren't hitting. Maybe not immediately, but VERY soon. Extremely impressive debut, though.

Too bad Krivsky, the pitching expert, couldn't quite patch together a quality starting staff.

But, with Jocketty as the GM, we can expect some clutch performers such as Wellemeyer, Looper and Pineiro in short order.

And with Krivsky's equal to that talent (Phillips, Volquez, etc.) as an addition to what Jocketty will soon bring, I think we have a bright future ahead of us.

Well, the difference is Krivsky molded some bad teams, and Jocketty has almost always built some of the top teams in the league. As an example, so far, this year's Cards team appears to be one of MLB's elite again. Their "down" years don't last more than the singular in many cases.

When and where did Jocketty start? I'd like to know this to see how he faired his first two seasons as a GM.

    Re: Pirates @ Reds 5/27/2008 Bruce's debut!

The worrisome part was Krivsky appeared unable to make many "big splash" moves to get the team into a more prime position to win. He seemed too keen at a slow-developing team, that may or may not have ever developed into something special.

I have to agree with you there. He was definitely hesitant and that is a strong case in differing the two GMs. But to get like Jocketty, you have to establish a repetoire with your fellow counterparts. Krivsky was not able to do that for whatever reason.

But I still think he had an equal eye for talent as Jocketty. He just didn't have the know how to go get said talent like Jocketty does.
