Ball Game!
Are you kidding me? Did anyone expect Cueto to pitch like this? I wanted to see a dominant performance, but never thought he could do this. Especially in his debut. 10 Ks and 0 walks. Only gave up 1 hit which was a HR by Upton. Unbelievable performance. You only hope that there are more of these to come.
That is what this game was all about. Johnny Cueto. I wasn't too impressed with our offense once we had runners on base. Sure they got on base a lot today. They showed a lot of patience, and took their walks. But they left a staggering 10 runners on base. That is simply ridiculous. We should have won this game by at least 5 runs. Instead it was a nail biter as Cordero closed the book.
Anyhow, there is still a lot of room to celebrate. We have a starting pitcher that can dominate opposing hitters. He didn't even look raw out there. He looked very poised and was just ready to go from the start. Honestly, this was the best Reds pitching performance I have seen in many years.
MVP: Cueto
Good teams win games like this one. Winning teams win the close one run affairs. Winning teams often have good pitching and mediocre offense. I'd like to see the O turn it on but I'm more interested in wins. As Reds fans we might have to accept less bashing and more frustrating nail biters like this one.
