looks like Ryan Feel (can steel bases, but low .BA and OBP) minus the versatility.. and about 2 years younger

Ellison did ok in his first year with the Giants getting regular playing time when Bonds was out with his knee surgeries. He does have speed and plays good defense. Should be a nice pickup with Freel out.

And in typical Reds fashion, he got the start today. He should NEVER start. He looked good yesterday(I was at the game) in LF at the end of the game (his arm especially), but he is not someone who should start a game at any time.

    What a sad organization.

Like I have been mentioning. Ellison shouldn't even have a spot on the roster. We need Hamilton back and we need Bruce called up. Screw his not being ready. He isn't a pitcher. What time better than the last few months of a dead season where you want to lose games anyway?

Well Hamilton is now up, but no Bruce. Would make too much sense for the "Vets R Us" store to stock up on younger players.

    Re: Reds claim Ellison

I agree. Bruce should be up here. The only solace in Ellison is that he is still under 30 and could be a nice defensive/late game replacement and it got rid of Bellhorn. Plus cheap.

If no ones interested in anyone over 30 I'd wave em all ASAP or after the waiver deadline (Aug 31)... of course with exceptions. Castro and Freel moved to the 60 day dl Retroactive to dl date to open a 40 man spot.

Eddie I'd ask if he'd want to take a position within the organization cause I think he's done as a MLB pitcher.

My roster: (Italicized means at AAA currently)

    Catcher (2)
    David Ross
    Javier Valentin

    Infield (6):
    Joey Votto
    Scott Hatteberg
    Brandon Phillips
    Edwin Encarncion
    Alex Gonzalez
    Jeff Keppinger

    Outfield (5):
    Ken Griffey Jr
    Adam Dunn
    Josh Hamilton
    Norris Hopper
Jay Bruce or Chris Dickerson (both would be up after Sept 1) Taking Freels now vacated 40 man roster spot

    Rotation (5):
    Aaron Harang
    Bronson Arroyo
    Elizardo Ramirez
    Bobby Livingston
    Phil Dumatrait

    Pen:
David Weathers (gone only if traded)
    Mike Gosling
    Matt Belisle
    Bill Bray
Gary Majic Man (make or break time personally)
    Jared Burton
    Marcus Macbeth

If Healthy Homer and Cueto could come up for spots of coffee and watched constantly after Sept 1.

    Roster check:
GONE: Stanton (Macbeth), Santos(Belisle), Conine (Votto), Ellison (Bruce/Dickerson), and Guardado (Lizard)

This doesnt even include when rosters expand and you could bring up Cout, Cantu, Herr, etc who most should/could be on the 40 man with the extra spots now open after cleaning house. Time to see what the pups can do.

"Oh, don't mind me, I'm rebuilding now" then you win at least 80 games
