    Dustin Hermanson...closer?

    per rotoworld:

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, "the feeling in camp" is that the Reds will name Dustin Hermanson their closer.

The newspaper contained few quotes to support that, but manager Jerry Narron did speak glowingly of Hermanson and his comeback from back problems. Hermanson has little chance of staying healthy all year long and isn't a great bet to pitch effectively even when he is 100 percent. Still, he's probably no worse of an option than the David Weathers-Mike Stanton pairing the Reds had been planning to use.
Also, Shack and Salmon were optioned to Louisville today.

This at least says that Hermanson should make the roster. So how does the bullpen shake up?

    locks:

    Weathers
    Stanton
    Coffey
    Bray
Belisle/Saarloos (whichever is not in the rotation)
    Hermanson
    Cormier

    possibles:

    Livingston
    Santos
    Burton
    Ramirez

    injured:

    Majewski
    Guardado

yeah i was on the reds home page last week i think and they had a poll for who should be closer and Hermanson was the leading vote getter with Coffey as number 2.

Right now i would rather it be Hermanson than Weathers..

I went to pick him up for one of my fantasy teams that needs a closer but the bastards at yahoo don't have him on their list of players.

The Reds would be stupid to let Burton go back to the A's. Supposedly his stuff has been filthy, even though his amount of action this spring has been limited I would much rather have him on the 25 man roster than betting on Cormier to have another pretty (but lucky) ERA.

I can't see Hermanson being that effective at closer having had seen try for the Giants. His back will give him too many problems and isn't reliable one bit. The Reds have been scouting Benitez but the Giants don't have a true replacement for him. Stanton didn't fair too bad for us last year closing. Maybe a closer by committee would be the best solution with Stanton getting ost of the action.
