Dr. K said they expect Claussen to make his next start if things progress as he expects.

Or what I'm thinking is more and more likely: O'Brien's last option is our first option!

I am not surprised he isn't, just frustrated bigtime with O'Brien. Why not just call up Luis Lopez or some other junk?

I wouldn't doubt his influence is strong and he does make some decisions... but I got to think Miley is making some of these choices on his own.

i posted it on another thread, but the reason he called up bergolla is that he is the only minor league position player other than EDE and catchers on the 40 man roster. to call up anyone else he would have had to expose a plsyer to waivers like he did last week with ricky stone. It's not worth the risk. It sucks, it's bad management of the 40 man, but it's what he has to do. It's also why elizardo is up instead of some of the other guys at AAA.

Criticize him for setting a bad 40 man roster this winter/spring.

That makes sense Wally, but if he is up, he should be starting.

I don't think that a couple of weeks of practice and pinch hitting is going to ruin this kids career. I wouldn't start him over freel.

Yep. Freel may be the more talented player, but I am really affraid this might hurt Bergolla's hot hitting. At least give him a chance to try to hit.

Right now i'm more worried about fighting back to .500 than bergolla's hitting. If the reds jump out to a lead sometime, or more likely give up a quick lead some time, i might switch him in to get him more than one AB. Like DJ did last weekend.

I am less convinced of the Aurilia situation being Miley's thinking after Miley/s comments/the clubhouse thoughts/issues that were talked about by Hal yesterday.

When you have such few promising prospects, hitting in particular, you grow to get a little paranoid when the front office doesn't handle them correctly.

I also was thinking if by some divine intervention from God that we get hot and start competiting.... Bergolla could be a valuable trading piece at the deadline if needed due to us having Freel. We don't got many other trading chips that could net us much. But you're right Wally, the goal is to get over .500 and Bergolla should be fine.

What was that? I heard Marty talking about some comments of his and Hal's?

They are mentioned on last night's game thread. Redsrbetter posted them.
