Fantastic performance by the Reds today. Dave Williams looked like the second coming of Cy Young today. Edwin Encarnacion is a lock for his first Gold Glove and Adam Dunn continues to impress with his fielding ability.

Of course, that was all tongue-in-cheek. The Reds got punched in the gut today.

And the fact that Griffey wasn't in the lineup again is starting to concern me.

Hopefully Griffey will be OK. I'm holding out hope that he will be.

I'm not so sure about "Dave Williams: No.1 Starter."

As I highlighted before his first start, he was about as inconsistent as a pitcher can be last year, so this type of start isn't surprising, especially considering his velocity was atrocious today. The velocity better improve if he's even going to match his close to 60 percent Quality Start rate from last year.

His velocity better improve if he wants to stay in the Majors. Or learn how to locate. Not having either is really bad.

Yeah, there's no way he can try to frame every pitch on the corner and throw so many balls with his lack of velocity. He either needs to find a way to throw more strikes or throw harder. I think his best chance is to go after option No. 1.
