CHICAGO -- Say one thing for Ken Griffey Jr.'s injury history: it has taught him to be prepared.
Griffey said he spent last night alternating ice and stim treatments on his right knee, using his own portable stim unit that he carries with him on the road. Just like that, instant, on-demand rehab.
After all that work, Reds trainer Mark Mann said Junior's knee was "a lot looser" this morning than when he left the park yesterday afternoon. Though Griffey didn't start today, he's available to pinch-hit if needed and will be reevaluated tomorrow in St. Louis.
"I think yesterday was more of a precaution than anything else, with his medical history," said Mann. "We’re obviously going to err on the side of caution."
