I would agree. But he's doing nothing that an average long reliever couldn't do. He is basically a league average long reliever(which is not saying a lot). BJ Ryan has shown in the past he can be an excellent pitcher. He's still been good against righties. I think Ryan can be very useful if he faces righties almost exclusively, and pitches in the 7th or so. I think he CAN be better for the Cubs than Tomko is for the Yankees. I don't think Tomko ****ed up their roster....but I think Ryan is more likely to have a positive impact on the Cubs come the stretch than Tomko will for the Yankees.

Yeah Koz, he has been since opening day to my knowledge, which is weird to me. I'd have assumed they have some more options in AAA, or could atleast throw a guy like Ramirez in there instead... but I dunno. Tomko must be the long-man or something.

BJ Ryan probably won't be anything more than a lefty specialist for us, if he gets that far. Our only other lefty in the pen is Marshall (who has been great over his past 20 innings or so), but from my understanding Ryan is there for insurrance and more flexibility (Lou likes two lefties or some shit). Remains to be see if he can contribute in any role, but it really doesn't hurt with how little we have to pay him (200k).
