I must say if this comes to fruition the rest of the NL Central is done until Derek Lee retires. My fears of Dunn becoming Big Papi would almost assuredly come to pass. Dunn for a career is hitting .286, .419, .664 with 23 home runs at Wrigley. Wow, could it get any worse for the Reds?

Oh ya Gammons could be right and were discussing a deal that would send Votto to Anaheim for Jermaine Dye, with Chone Figgins going to the White Sox....

The Cubs pull the trigger then Dunn would finally have decent protection in which to do something with and Wrigley Field isnt that big of an outfield to where his d would hurt you that badly.

Dunn was such a cub killer. I'd love to see him playing right in wrigley.

That would be a ridiculous team. Zambrano, Dempster, Lilly, Harden, Marmol, Lee, Ramirez, Dunn, Soriano, Soto....just nuts. Of course, the outfield defense would take a hit with Dunn being the everyday RF.

I agree with that. Can Dunn play RF on a regular basis? What about Fukodome? To give him the boot after one year may or may not be the best thing for the team. Maybe they could trade him to the Yankees for Chamberlin and Cano?

No way the Yankees give up Chamberlain OR Cano for a mediocre 4th outfielder.

No way they would give up Joba, that's ridiculous, but Joba AND Cano?? WTF are you smoking?

That being said, I think Fukudome is a decent starter, not a 4th outfielder

He showed at the end of last year that he couldn't hit down the stretch. He wasn't able to be an everyday player when it counted. Hell, Piniella benched him. Fukudome may be a mediocre starting OF at best, but he will never be traded for either one of the two guys mentioned, let alone both.

I'm not surprised he faded down the stretch, because the Japanese season is shorter. He has to get used to a 162 game season. I think he'll get there eventually

He struggled after June ended. He was below .240 in July, August, and September. He may improve, but he's also gonna be 32 in April. I don't think he's any better than decent.

    Re: Dunn's First Choice...

The Cubs might just be Dunn's first choice but I doubt he is the Cubs'. Cubs prefer Milton Bradley. Dunn has no fit in the Cubs lineup. Dunn is better off going the Big Papi route and becoming a DH. The Angels might give him a look after pulling out of the Teixeira sweeps.

No sweat. My point is that the Yankees are notorious for making silly trades at times.
Frankly, I wouldn't trade my last reliever for Fukodome right now, but he could play CF better than some of the guys the Yankees have to play there.
