It would be an absolute joy to watch Ryno manage the Cubs someday. I have always liked Ryne and think he is the best second baseman of all-time.Ryne Sandberg is taking another step toward his goal of becoming a major-league manager. The Hall of Fame second baseman was named manager of the Cubs' Double-A affiliate, the Tennessee Smokies, on Wednesday after spending the last two seasons managing the Class-A Peoria Chiefs. "First things first. Just learn along the way. That's the way I've been taking this thing," Sandberg said. "I want to learn, I want to be good at it. Like the players, I hope one day to be at the major-league level. That's kind of all of our goals in the minor leagues. I'm no different than the players."
