I agree, we need a lefty in our rotation.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett
The Red Sox need a left-hander in the starting rotation, and why not the playoff, big game experienced David Wells? Clement and Arroyo have better value for trade anyway, and I would trade Clement, because Arroyo's versatility is definately better than Clements solid first half/terrible second half routine. This couldn't really work out better for the Red Sox anyway, as now they have a content (for now) lefty in the rotation. Just hope he stays healthy for one more season.
Well...now who will they trade?
Clement's possible, but will they eat even more money after paying 11 million in the Rent trade? Arroyo shouldn't go due to his unofficial NTC. Eek.

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.
I don't think anyone will be traded. Papelbon and Arroyo will be in the bullpen. The rotation will feature Schilling, Beckett, Wakefield, Wells, and Clement. They need to keep the "extras" around because of the health concerns with Schilling, Wells, Beckett's blisters, and Foulke in the bullpen.
Good point Providence. They can afford to do it. Carry 12 pitchers is something they may have to do, but with the Sox, it's worth it

I guess they could trade someone, but I just don't think they'd get something they could really use like a quality SS. I just think with the question marks it'd be better to hold onto the pitching. Sort of like how if someone gets hurt for the A's they have Saarloos (won 10 games as a #5 starter last year) and Kennedy to step in.
What else would say they really need that would warrant giving up a starter?
