Jed Hoyer and Ben Cherrington named co-general managers

    http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSo...ticleid=116270

"DALLAS — Amid a fruitless search for the successor to Theo Epstein, the Red Sox are soon expected to announce a restructuring of their baseball operations department in which former Epstein aides Ben Cherington and Jed Hoyer will share responsibilities as general manager.
According to multiple sources, an announcement regarding Cherington and Hoyer will come within the next several days. Team officials could not be reached for comment, but it is believed that Cherington and Hoyer will serve as co-GMs throughout the 2006 season while the Sox continue to assess possible long-term solutions in the wake of Epstein’s departure."

Very interesting, I want to see how the co-GM thing works IRL (outside of Bawlmah), it worked pretty well in the sim leagues after all, and if the people making the three big trades of the offseason are these two with Lajoie and others, I have few worries.

I should note though, at another Sox website, Gordon Edes posted a message that Theo Back to Boston rumors are flying around.

The Orioles used Flannagan and Beattie for the past few years.

I think I like this system, I also really like Theo having a role in the team as well. If these guys are the ones behind the moves we made so far, I think we'll be alright

Surely this can't work. If you're going to make a joke of the whole thing, why not name Ben Affleck and Matt Damon co-GMs.

One of them does all the work and the other one takes all the credit?

You mean a generally successful team, a world series appearence, always finishing behind one team, and then they see Bill Bavasi make yet another shitty trade and simultaneously quit?
