    September Call-ups

    http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/...=.jsp&c_id=bos

Well, without having to *gasp* open a link, here's the details

The Sox called up three pitchers and one hitter. They brought up
    A. Keith Foulke, the highly paid closer who has had a horrible year and is coming off surgery along with struggling in Lowell (A). He will be in middle relief until he gets his arm in action and ready to go, Timlin will close.
    B. Chad Harville, a reliever from the Astros claimed off of waivers. Not having a great year, but he's 28 and still better than most of the Red Sox bullpen
    C. Matt Perisho, mostly for purposes of relief depth. He has had a fantastic year in both the Marlins and Red Sox AAA systems, a combined 4-0 with around a 2 ERA. He will join Myers as a lefty
    D. Alejandro Machado, infield depth as he can play a handful of infield positions and give guys like Mueller, Graffanino, and Renteria days off.

Also, Dinardo will be activated today to start (help) against the Orioles, Delcarmen will be called up soon, Craig Hansen is nursing a dead arm on the DL (IIRC) and can still be called up from the DL if needed in the post-season. Shoppach has a sprained ankle and can be called up for backing up Mirabelli or Varitek.

I don't think Hansen is on the DL. When I saw the story on the news it just said they were giving him some time off because of his dead arm. When you check the Sox site, they have him listed on the 40 man roster, but it doesn't say he's on the DL. Also when you check the injuries section it doesn't mention him. I went to the Seadogs site and couldn't find any info about him being on the DL.

Maybe I was wrong then. I thought they'd put him on the DL for sure, if only to have him eligible for post-season play due to the K-Rod loophole.
