So, are you saying Larry Lucchino and Larry Baer are de facto GMs?

This has to be the dumbest post of all time No, his role has been GM. Every GM has their title under Baseball Operations in every team's directory. Keep reaching as always!!

Because Epstein is the GM and his name is at the top of the hierarchy in Baseball Operations, then he IS the head of Baseball Operations. What part of that don't you fucking understand?

So, LTR, what you're saying is "Baseball Operations" is the de facto spot teams list their front office personnel?

Some teams, such as the Padres when Alderson was here, list a "team President" or some other title (such as "head of baseball operations") ahead of the GM.

With the Padres, Sandy was Team President (or something along those lines) and Towers was still the "General Manager"

It's all just titles, though. They all serve as a de facto GM by teaming up to make personnel moves.

    Re: Theo to Chicago Cubs

I understand the part where you are dead wrong and reaching. No, he is not the head of all baseball operations as GM. Being the President of Baseball Operations and being the GM/VP are not the same thing!! What part of that don't you fucking understand??? By your logic, every GM IS the head of Baseball Operations just because their name comes first under Baseball Operations in a directory

    Re: Theo to Chicago Cubs

As an aside, it won't be long until every team must give up de facto prospects to acquire a new GM due to the prescedent of this move.

Source -- Chicago Cubs may announce Theo Epstein hire during World Series - ESPN Chicago

Hoyer would be the de facto hierarchy of baseball operations.

An announcement like that requires Selig's personal approval.

Nothing interferes with the World Series.
