People who know the game see that and know greatness is defined in October!! See 2001 Seattle Mariners if you are still confused. at teams being determined great by their regular season How did Bay's ALDS turnout? He's still not buckling under that immense Boston pressure
says the man who claims the save stat is meaningful and who enver backs up that claim. No knowledgable baseball fan needs an explanation to tell them an 83 win team isn't a great team. AGAIN, they did what they needed to do in october and deserved to win it all but greatness comes from great reg and postseasons. The 2001 Mariners WOULDS have been considered a great team had they won in october, the '06 Cards are not considered great by anyone who has a clue about the sport.

How has Bay's ALS gone? better than the great closer KRod, right?

It's all about Championships, who gives a crap about the regular season once it's over. To discredit a team because of their regular season performance is stupid. Afterall if they beat the team with a better regular season record head to head over a 7 game series, then they are obviously better, at least when it counted.
Of course you'd rather take a few less reg season wins and win the WS then more reg seaosn wins and falling short in october. That's not the debate, an 83 win team is not a great team. I'm sorry. Before the WC they wouldn't even have made the postseason. They just got hot at the right time.

I have never backed up that claim??/ Are you ****ing serious?? Please go back and read the dozen or so pages on Krod. Good lord man!! Read first!! Yes, us knowledgeable fans need to know what you are saying when you say they are no great teams. One picked one example and they exceeded expectations and achieved greatness. Can't stress this enough but greatness is determined in October and no where else. You saying "they did what they needed to do" is absolutely downplaying their great postseason!! You make it sound like it is easy to win a championship. And now you are playing the would have-could have-should have game with the 2001 Mariners? They had the best regular season but weren't the greatest team that year. Sorry but you are wrong. The Cards were the greatest team of 2006. They have the jewelry to prove it!!

It's pointless discussing things w/ you. Ask any person who knows anything about baseball if the 83 win Cards were great.

Sorry but some people just don't know baseball. He thinks greatness is determined in the regular season. Its sad. Anyone who knows baseball knows greatness is defined in October. The 06 Cards were the greatest team that year and have the title to prove it. Too much of a concept for nyjunc. You would thinks with as many titles the Yankees won he could grasp this concept. Obviously not!!

Bock to the topic at hand and HOPEFULLY it will stay on topic, Bay went 3-5 with 4 RBI and a HR in last night's game. He also walked. Bay has been a beast for the Sox in the playoffs!!! He has 9 RBI in six playoff games and three homers. Looks like he can handle the pressure just fine.

Bay showed that he can handle a bat as well as anyone can. His performance has been very good thusfar. He is younger and better defensively than Manny is and should be counted on to be a major part of the Red Sox team for many years.
With the Red Sox, he can be a role-player, as opposed to being the major offensive threat as he was in Pittsburgh. There is a lot less pressure on him in Boston.

That 5 hole suits him perfectly. Francona did a very good job constructing that lineup after Manny's departure.

It's the total package that makes a team truly great. You cannot win 83 games and be considered a great team, they were the Champs and earend that but they didn't earn greatness. Greatness is earned through YEARS but you can have a great season, 83 wins is not a great season despite what happens in October. I cannot even understand how this is an argument? Upserts happen in sports, SL winning the WS that year was an upset. The Giants won 10 games last year in the NFl then got hot in Jan/feb- they weren't a great team they just got hot at the right time. No one would compare them to the '85 Bears or '89 Niners just like no one would compare SL to the '98 Yanks.

Enough!!! You tried to make a point and its not working. Greatness is defined in October and no other time. There was no better team in '06. Stay on topic!! This is about how well Bay is doing!
