    Injury Beckett (Not) Feeling It?

Josh Beckett's scheduled start on Saturday has been pushed back to Tuesday due to "tingling" in his hand.
Beckett was hammered for eight runs in 2 1/3 innings by the Blue Jays on Sunday, so it's not a huge surprise that he was hurting. He slept awkwardly on his shoulder, according to manager Terry Francona, which is the cause of the tingling. Beckett wouldn't attribute it solely to the way he slept, though, saying he's felt the tingling all season. He also said starting on Tuesday wasn't a certainty
This doesn't sound good. Tom Glavine experienced something similar, and it turned out to be minor blood clots in this shoulder. This can't be a good thing, but hopefully it's not as severe as it could be.

the fact that he has been feeling it all season is a bad sign, and so does the fact that he got absolutely shelled. but we'll see what happens. i wouldn't be too upset if he was out

You would think word would have come out sooner if it was all season. Plus, shouldn't the team have sent him to some kind of specialist if he was feeling either tingling or numbness?

Beckett has struggles all year so sleeping on his arm wrong doesn't cut it for me. He is having problems but I hope its nothing serious because he is fun to watch in October.

Well, Beckett refused to blame his sleep habits for the struggles. So, we'll see, hopefully everything's ok with him and it's not a serious issue.

Not really necessary to respond with contempt.

The Yank's are probably done, but you really should keep your mouth shut, cause the Red Sox could very easily be saying the same thing 2 weeks from now. I hope they aren't, but our pitching is falling apart and we certainly don't have the offense to compensate for a lack of pitching.

Exactly, that's exactly what I was getting at. I'm certain that with the Yanks likely not making the playoffs would be taking 5 of the remaining 6 against Red Sox and ruining their hopes of making the playoffs.

Beckett will have his next start pushed back...again. He is experiencing inflammation in his elbow. Not good for the Sox.

Yep, and Tim Wakefield is supposedly taking his spot. Interesting that they get Wakefield back when they lose Beckett. Hopefully both guys are fine, and come back strong.

Inflamation of the sort that he is experiencing can only really be cured by stopping the motion that pitching uses. He can change his mechanics a bit and, hopefully, reduce the inflamation. Antiinflamitories, such as Ibuprofen, Naproxen, etal, can also help. They will get this problem worked out or the Sox will have a tough time getting through the season and into the playoffs.
