Colon (4-2, 4.09 ERA) was injured Monday taking a swing during an at-bat against Phillies starter Cole Hamels. Colon left after five innings because of the stiffness.

this and Wang could be a good argument for an all-DH MLB.

Cue Theo Epstein ranting and raving about the NL playing in the 1800s. Oh wait, he knows baseball.

I don't think a stopgap pitcher getting hurt is meaningful enough for even ESPN to care.

How's this? It's going to take more than a fat, out of shape pitcher who hasn't pitched over 100 innings in two years to make a change.

I really think the Sox were leaning on sending Colon down to AAA anyway upon the return of Dice-K. Masterson was doing too well.

I figured you'd be singing Hankie's tune. You two.. were separated at birth, no doubt.

Masterson is doing well, but he could still benefit from some more time in the minors. Colon had pitched fairly well, prior to this last outing he only had one other poor start, which was basically caused by his poor fielding, not his pitching. I don't want to see them lose Colon, cause Wakefield's back will start acting up any day now. Personally although I believe Wakefield is the ultimate team player, I'm tired of the inconsistency from him. I can't even watch him pitch against the Yankees anymore, something about watching Jason Giambi stealing bases at will drives me nuts.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I don't want to see Colon go or out for an extended period of time with an injury. He adds great depth to our pitching staff and Wakefield will at some point have his back issues.
