Good draft haul. Knick fans (and Melo) are just miserable fucks.

my favorite drafts:
minnesota [towns, tyus jones]
houston [dekker, montrezl]
orlando [hezonja, harvey]
miami [winslow, richardson... moreso just getting winslow at 10]
likes:
chicago [portis]
cleveland [osman, christmas, sir'dominic]
brooklyn [rondae, mccullough]
toronto [wright, powell]
meh:
lal [love russell... dont care for nance or brown]
philly [they made the right pick at 3, even though im personally meh on okafor... but i could honestly see none of the other guys they took ever playing a minute in the nba]
dallas [i like justin anderson... but i loved the tyus jones fit, and they passed on him]
boston [rozier, hunter and mickey are all fine picks... but taking rozier and hunter when your backcourt is already pretty crowded...]
hate:
the knicks for obvious reasons. but things could get interesting with melo bitching. if they dump melo, and decide to FINALLY go into a true 3-5 year rebuild [and yes, i know we dont have next years pick], ill love last nights draft, getting porzingis and willy. and i actually like jerian grant as a player who could play right now, i just hate him being on this team as its currently constructed... hes another guy that deserved to be on houston, or okc, or another team that could be a playoff team right now.
charlotte... not a fan of kaminsky, and you got offered 6 picks and potentially 4 1st rounders [including 2 this year]. they couldve gotten portis at 16, a guy who i like more than kaminsky anyway, and still had 5 other picks scattered over last nights draft, and the next 2.
washington... theyre contenders in the eastern conference, and they needed bigs. traded up for some reason, i have a feeling they couldve gotten oubre at 19 anyway... then passed on portis, harrell and looney, 3 guys who wouldve been much better fits, and filled a need.
milwaukee and memphis making promises to guys they couldve gotten later than their spots. at least milwaukee filled a need though. think memphis regrets making a promise to martin, when rj hunter fell into their lap?

the thing, this is not an organization that develops kids like porzingis. and if they do decide to go heavy in free agency, then by the time porzingis is ready to contribute, he'll likely be on another teams roster as a piece to go get another "superstar". as i said in the post above, if we can find somebody to take melo, and we rebuild the correct the way... through the draft, not free agency... ill love last nights draft. but this team, and this organization, with melo under contract for another 4 years... i hate it.
Ben Gordon's option was declined. Giving Orlando more room to keep Tobias Harris, unless some jackass is stupid enough to give this 10.5 mil per year player a max deal. Seeing how he's only 22 though, I'd sign him regardless of what people offered even if it was a max deal.

quick run down on some of the signings...
love re-signs with cleveland, 5/110
phoenix brings back brandon knight, 5/70 and signs tyson chandler 4/52
jimmy butler, kawhi leonard and goran dragic all sign max deals to go back to chicago, san an and miami respectively
toronto brings in another winger, demarre carroll, 4/60
tiago splitter traded to atlanta, and paul millsap mulls two max offers from atlanta and orlando
supposedly 4/45 sends danny green back to san an, and 3/32 sends monta ellis to indiana
al aminu gets 4/30 from portland
khris middleton also got 5/70, to go back to milwaukee
dunleavy gets 3 years, around 15 mil to go back to chicago
the nets bring back brook lopez on a 3 yr max deal, and thad young on about a 4/48 deal
amir johnson heading to boston, 2/24
the knicks are supposedly getting afflalo, monroe and david west... yay?
and in the biggest news of all... pero antic is headed back to the euroleague! boooooooo
Knicks realize Afflalo is a decent defender right? I mean, he wouldn't fit in

"Sam Amick: LaMarcus Aldridge is unlikely to make a decision by tonight, I’m told, as he wants to hear what the Knicks have to say in meeting tomorrow. "
aldridge was allegedly not impressed with the lakers, but loved the suns. the suns and spurs seem to be the favorites right now, with the mavs on top for deandre jordan... those were my top 2 targets, with marc gasol never seemingly wanting to leave memphis.
millsap back to the hawks, 3 yrs, 59 mil.
I'm sort of happy Orlando lost out on Millsap. You don't sign 30 year olds and lose out on keeping a 22 year old Tobias Harris. I realize Millsap is an all star player, but I didn't see the fit

May as well denote the thread for what it's being used for now?
Anyway, apparently Aldridge didn't like what Kobe had to say during a meeting? How long before the "Kobe scares off all would-be free agents" narrative starts?

evidently kobe told him 'i want you to come in and play off me like pau did'. or something to that effect. i cant imagine why lamarcus didnt sign right there.
Because Pau and Kobe playing together never worked?
All well, moving on. I wouldn't hate it if their hand was forced to build around Randle and Russell anyway.
